EXAMPLES OF GOD’S MEN
There are several examples in the Bible where men operated in ways that reflected God's design for them. Here are a few examples:
1. Adam as a steward of the garden (Genesis 2:15) In Genesis 2, we see that God created Adam and placed him in the garden of Eden "to work it and keep it" (Genesis 2:15). This demonstrates that Adam was meant to be a steward of the garden, caring for and cultivating it in a way that honored God. This responsibility included naming the animals (Genesis 2:19-20), demonstrating Adam's role as a wise and discerning caretaker of God's creation.
2. Joseph as a wise administrator (Genesis 41) In Genesis 41, we see Joseph elevated to a position of authority in Egypt, where he was put in charge of managing the country's resources during a time of famine. Joseph's wise administration not only saved the lives of the Egyptians, but also his own family, who had come to Egypt seeking food. Through his wise stewardship, Joseph was able to honor God and serve his fellow human beings.
3. David as a just and righteous king (2 Samuel 8:15-18) David is often held up as a model of a godly king in the Bible. In 2 Samuel 8, we see that David was a just and righteous king who administered justice and equity to his people. He also demonstrated great wisdom and discernment in his leadership, seeking God's guidance in all things.
4. Jesus as a servant leader (Philippians 2:5-11) Of course, the ultimate example of a man operating as God designed is Jesus himself. In Philippians 2, we see that Jesus, though he was in the form of God, emptied himself and took on the form of a servant, obedient even to death on a cross. Through his sacrificial love and servant leadership, Jesus demonstrated the ultimate example of what it means to be a man made in God's image.
In all of these examples, we see men who are operating in ways that reflect God's design for them as stewards, administrators, leaders, and servants. These men demonstrate what it looks like to exercise dominion over the earth and over one's own life in a way that honors God and serves others.
